UTV Motion Pictures' third Hollywood co-production, 'The Happening', has achieved the stupendous feat of grossing more than USD 162 million at the global box office. This places it 14th in the top worldwide grosser of 2008. This achievement is even more remarkable when you consider that the film has been produced at one of the most cost efficient production budgets of all films in the list.


'The Happening' budgeted at 57 million USD was released with over 4500 prints over 2986 Theatres across North America plus another 5600 prints Worldwide. The film written and directed by Indian born, ace Hollywood director M. Night Shyamalan and co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures along with 20th Century Fox and Spyglass released on Friday, 13th of July, 2008 worldwide.

UTV is the First South Asian Company to foray into mainstream Hollywood production.

In 2007, UTV co-produced the acclaimed 'The Namesake' directed by Mira Nair from the Pulitzer Prize winning author Jhumpa Lahiri. It also co-produced 'I Think I love My Wife' written and directed by actor Chris Rock. Presently UTV's first solo Hollywood production 'The Ex-terminators' starring Heather Graham is under production.
