STAR Group targets Bengal

With the launch of "STAR JOLSHA' Star India Pvt Ltd, which is India's largest media conglomerate is spreading its reach into yet another state of the country.


The birth of the new television channel in Bengali was made known to the world by the showcasing of a promotional music video titled as "Chalo Paltai" which means "Let's Change'.

The cream of the current hot talents produced by Bengal is featured in the video.

Individual creative persons and music bands who have made Bengal proud by establishing and creating their own space and identity by the strengths of unique styles lend the music video a great Bengali ethnic flavour and represented the spirit of resurgent new Bengal.

Rituparno Ghosh, Abhijeet, Raima Sen, Dr Palash Sen, Jisshu, Jeet, Koyel Mullick, Cactus, Fossils, Chandrabindoo, Lakkhichhara, Dev and Anwesa were featured in the video of the song written by Chadrabindoo and composed by Pritam.

The programes to be telecasted constitute all genres of T.V programes ranging from fiction, non-fiction, mythology, movies to reality shows.

Acclaimed National award winning film maker Rituparna Ghosh will be hosting a chat show called "GHOSH & CO.

A devotional drama titled as "DURGA", a comedy show titled as "I LAUGH YOU" and daily soaps like BANDHAN, NEER BHANGA JOR and EKHANEY AKASH are some of the other programes in the offering.

"STAR JOLSHA" can also take credit in bringing the renowned actor Victor Banerjee to give television a try.

He will be making his small screen debut in the serial "BANDHAN".

Uttam Kumar's grandson Gaurav Chatterjee will also be making his television debut with "DURGA".

For the first time Shri Venkatesh Films which is a leading film production house will be creating programes for television through "STAR JOLSHA".

Famous director Ravi Ojha will be at the helm of an edge-of-the-seat thriller NIR BHANGA JHOR and several acclaimed Bengali films will be also be telecasted.

This is the dawn of a new era of television entertainment in Bengal as a new benchmark in terms of the nature of the programes and the viewing preferences of the viewers is in the process of being marked.
