Is that Aamir at an award function?

Aamir Khan, who usually doesn’t attend any film award functions, went for one recently. What;’s more, he even agreed to receive the Best Director’s award for his directorial debut venture, Taare Zameen Par. Aamir recently went to Chennai to receive the Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Endowment Award.

This award is meant to recognize best Indian directorial talent and this is for the first time that a film from Bollywood has been chosen for the award. It is no wonder then that the anti-awards Aamir agreed to be a part of this award function. Attaching a lot of importance to this award, Aamir spoke at length about the prestige attached with this one. He said, “I’m quite happy about receiving this award. It’s an award received by the best first time director of the country.”
