Shut up & slip: Shilpa Shetty

Preity Zinta was New York bound to receive a Best Actress Award for her offbeat film, Heaven on Earth. But the actress had to make a last-minute cancellation to attend a court hearing in Mumbai. Priety had filed a defamation case against a city tabloid for needlessly dragging her into a controversy involving ex-lovers Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in 2005. Although Preity was disappointed by a no show at the court, she stood her ground. The opposition is trying to dilly-dally the case, but “I’m a fighter,” she says.

Shilpa Shetty had a hard time shooting for her cameo song in Dostana. Reports say the actress kept slipping away every time she tried to lay her hands on John Abraham. The actor had apparently gone overboard with body lotion on that particular day. Now you know why Miss Shetty slithered better than she usually does.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may be a star back home, but still has miles to go in Hollywood. At least the recently released posters of Pink Panther 2 suggest this. A lot had been written about Ash’s big Hollywood flick with ace comedian Steve Martin, but the posters make you wonder if the actress’s role in the film is really as significant. The promotional material only shows actors Kevil Kline, Martin and singer Beyonce Knowles standing alongside each other. Even Aishwarya’s name has failed to feature in the endorsements.

The producers of Golmaal Returns may have laughed their way to the bank, but a big amount of all that moolah is now going to be used to fight a court case. The multi-starrer is reportedly a rip-off with characters and parts of the story resembling 1973 film Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar starring Asrani and Kiran Kumar. So far, copyright holders of the classic film have filed a case of plagiarism. We’ll keep you updated on what happens next.

Sonali Bendre is having a tress-ful time. The actress regrets chopping off her long, beautiful hair as she has trouble managing it. Sonali was spotted throwing a fit when she spotted her crowning glory in a shabby state on the sets of Indian Idol recently.
