The citation behind the award states it is bestowed for the recipients 'distinctive on-screen persona that is uniquely their own and allows their character depictions to bring audiences from laughter to tears.' Past recipients of the award include top Hollywood actresses like Salma Hayek, Halle Berry, and Monica Bellucci. You go girl!

The 16th annual MMPA's Diversity Awards will be held Sunday, November 23rd, at Universal Studios Globe Theatre. The theme of this year's event will be 'Celebrity Diversity - American Spirit and Global Talent - Making it Happen.' The main goal of the Diversity Awards is to honor creative accomplishments to the diverse perspectives and talents in the cinematic arts and television. Some notable artists who will also be receiving awards Sunday night are Ludacris, who will be presented with the Creative Maverick Award and Ruby Dee-Davis, who is being honored with the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award.
