Paresh plays three roles with the ease of a seasoned actor. In Dibakar Bannerjee's next film Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye, Paresh plays Abhay Deol's Dad, as well as essays the roles of gangster Gogi Bhai and a veterinary doctor Handa.
And was the veteran actor who needs not to prove his mettle, skeptical of pulling it off?
"Very, very! But with Dibakar's mastery as a writer and as a Director, he created these three different worlds for me. By doing that very well, he really made my life easy and my job very, very easy!" said Paresh Rawal with appreciation.
Paresh also turns producer with Maharathi, a screen adaptation of his super hit play by the same name. Initially Mansoor Khan wanted to make the film with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. Later, Vipul Shah wanted to make it with Akshay Kumar as the hero. But Paresh declined both offers. And now his good friends and acclaimed actors Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri have even slashed their prices for the film.
"To put up a good, taut and intelligent thriller and not sacrificing logic anywhere is important. And to have the august company of Naseeruddin Shah, Boman Irani, Om Puri and the director Shivam Nair was irresistible. So I thought why not take it up!" argues Paresh of why he decided to do it on his own.
So while Maharathi releases on December 5, Friday promises to be the chance to view Paresh in Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye.
