Its raining "Kats"

Talking of storms, just like Hurricane Katrina had struck the US last year, we have a welcome Katrina hurricane strike at the box office in Bollywood! What with each film of hers getting the cash registers ringing at the box office, producers are queuing up to cast the Hit Queen in their films.

Katrina is considered as the lucky mascot and is synonymous with success with 6 back-to-back hits. Her next release is Main Yuvraaj, being directed and produced by Subhash Ghai. With such a reputed filmmaker at stake, the initial trade reports look very promising.

Says a trade analyst " Katrina Kaif is a natural phenomenon in Bollywood. Never in the history of Bollywood, has anyone delivered 6 back-to-back hits. It's quite a commendable feat. She is a lucky mascot to the industry"

Besides being lucky, Katrina is also considered very highly in the endorsement circles. She is considered as the actress with the Midas touch, as even the brands that she endorses have seen the sales graph tripling. No wonder with all that moolah rolling in, the little Kat has bought a house for her family in London.

Salman Khan is leaving no stone unturned to make Veer, which marks his debut as a full-fledged scriptwriter, his most ambitious film. Recently, Salman gave several valuable tips so that the song ‘Taali mar’, which is written by Gulzar and composed by Sajid-Wajid turns out to be a chartbuster.

The song, which has been sung by Sonu Nigam, Sukhvinder Singh and Wajid, took almost 13 days to be recorded.
Wajid says, “The song is grand all because of Salman bhai.

We used around 125-130 musicians and we have not used a single electronic instrument because Veer is a period film. We got musicians from Rajasthan, MP, Madras and other cities from all over India. We also had experts who knew about music and instruments that no longer exist in the industry today.”

Wajid says the song turned out to be unique all because of Salman’s suggestions. “Salman bhai took keen interest in the song and gave invaluable tips on using the right instruments.

Bhai wanted us to use some of the most traditional instruments to give an Arabic feel to the song. He was also extremely happy with Gulzar saab’s lyrics,” adds Wajid.

The spat between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan at the latter's girlfriend Katrina Kaif's birthday party had turned sour with the industry apparently diving itself into two camps.

In the wake of this, one big question was whether Katrina would be a part of Shah Rukh's upcoming Temptations tour.

Putting an end to the guessing games, Katrina says, "Yes, I will be performing in the Temptations tour.

I am currently shooting for a Yash Raj film and Raj Kumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani is next in the list. So with these films on hand, my dates for the shoot and tour had to be adjusted."

Says a source close to the Moranis, the organisers of the tour, "Katrina will be performing in the Dubai segment of the tour. We had no option but to wait for Katrina to confirm, for over a month now.

But given that she has delivered some of the biggest hits like songs form Race, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng, we couldn't not have her on the tour."

Aamir Khan, true to his atypical self, has opted to have an interactive website for his upcoming flick ‘Ghajini’, instead of the usual teaser promo that precedes the release of every film.

The tech-savvy superstar stays in touch with his fans and interacts exhaustively through his website. Now he intends to go further and use the interactive medium for the promotion of ‘Ghajini’, as well as broaden his fan following.

The perfectionist-Khan is also involved in the creation of promotional clips that are being made especially for the Internet. Aamir is vying to make ‘Ghajini’ rule the Internet, and through this medium rule the audience, so that when it is released, the success-saga of this uniquely promoted flick has already been half written.

What’s more, the website promotion will also cost a lot less than traditional methods. While the promos on TV need deep pocket for repeated airing time on different channels, Internet promos are comparatively free of cost!

And Aamir is not stopping at this; the plans for a mobile phone website of the movie are also under way. At this rate, the promotional strategy of Bollywood movies will soon be rewritten to make way for creative initiators like Aamir!

The wait to catch a glimpse of ‘Ghajini’ will not last forever, for the promos are scheduled to hit the market by the end of October. It will be a bang-of-a-promo for ‘Ghajini’ this Diwali!
