Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday arrested a youth (an Abhishek Bachchan impersonator) for sending threatening SMSs to Amitabh Bachchan.

Devi Singh Rajpurohit, 25, was arrested from Rajasthan as he was threatening Big B by his messages and demanding a sum of Rs 25 crores as well as a role in a Bollywood movie.

According to reports, Rajpurohit, in his SMS to Bachchan, had exclaimed that Big B had only three days to live if he failed to pay him the money in question.

Rajpurohit has apparently told the police that he had done some scenes as a body double for Abhishek in his much anticipated film 'Drona'. It is believed that Devi was desperate to get a role in a Bollywood production and had thought that Bachchan would be of some help, but when there was no rejoinder, he decided to threaten Bachchan through SMSs.

The accused was arrested since his mobile number was tracked by the police. He will be produced in the court on Tuesday.

We all know that Atul Agnihotri is making a film based on Chetan Bhagat's novel, One Night @ a call center after acquiring the rights from Rohan Sippy.

It is also known that brother-in-law Salman Khan will play the author, called Chetan Bhagat a kind of an extended guest appearance in it. In fact, Khan's character aides in the narration of the story.

The latest is that Agnihotri has finalised Katrina Kaif to play the girl on the train and two of the other main protagonists. The story begins at 8 one night on a train and ends at 8 the following morning.

Zayed Khan has been cast as Vroom and Sharman Joshi will play Shyam in this film that is being produced by Paul Parman, who organised a Khan concert in USA recently.

The rest of the cast will be finalised in the coming days. As yet untitled, the film is slated to go on the floors this December, and will be shot in New Delhi since the story is set in the capital. And author Bhagat is likely to play a cameo.

Saif Ali Khan has issued an apology for his spat with the media on the sets of his yet-untitled film in Patiala, Punjab, on Sunday.

"I was not present at the time of the incident so I don't know the details. But as a producer, and on behalf of our company Illuminati films, I would like to apologise on behalf of our security for any inconvenience caused to the local press," Saif said.

On Sunday, when Saif was shooting for the said film with director Imtiyaz Ali of Jab We Met [Images] fame, photo journalists started clicking pictures, and some television news channels started filming the shoot. This angered Saif and the production team and they strongly objected.

Saif's security then allegedly snatched the cameras. The actor and his team then lodged a complaint against the journalists at the Patiala railway police station. Soon after that, several mediapersons assembled on Mall Road and demanded action against Saif.

Commenting on the charges of assault and man-handling leveled against him, Saif said, "That is completely false and baseless. I was not even around. Anyway, like I said before, I would still like to apologise to anyone, who was offended."

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who was in town for a function, sent his political colleagues Prem Singh Chandumajra of Shiromani Akali Dal and Raj Khurana of BJP to pacify the journalists. The journalists later withdrew their protest.

"Shooting can get pretty chaotic and crowded in small towns and some pushing and shoving normally happens. It happens all the time. So if anyone has been offended, I would like to apologise to them personally and also on behalf of our production," Saif said.

Actor-turned-director Atul Agnihotri says he cast brother-in-law Salman Khan in his forthcoming film Hello not to increase its commercial value, but because the character in the movie demanded a star like him.

Salman plays himself, a superstar, in the film that is based on the acclaimed book One Night At The Call Centre by Chetan Bhagat.

"Salman plays Chetan Bhagat's character in the film. But we have shown him as Salman - the film star - unlike the book which portrayed Chetan Bhagat (the narrator) as a writer," Atul told IANS.

"I have not cast Salman because of commercial reasons or being a relative, but it was important for the role to have an actor who has a star status," said Atul.

Hello is Atul's second film as director after Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha, which released in 2004. Hello is slated to hit theatres on October 10.

Though Salman does not play the lead role, he has an important role in the movie as the story begins and ends with him.

And Salman Khan fans will not be disappointed as they will get to see enough of their superstar. The two-hour movie features Salman for at least 25 minutes, said Atul.

Besides Salman, the film boasts of a large star cast including Katrina Kaif, Sharman Joshi, Sohail Khan, Isha Koppikar, Gul Panag, Amrita Arora and Arbaaz Khan.

Katrina plays a fellow traveller who narrates the whole story to Salman.

"It is through them that the whole story unfolds and they play a pivotal part in the film," said Atul.

The director maintained that he had not deviated much from the novel, except for taking a few cinematic liberties.

He explained that while books need more time to introduce characters as it has only words to communicate, cinema is different, being an audio visual medium presentation.

The film revolves around a group of call centre workers who receive a call from god.

Atul said it took them nine days to film the scene where god appears as it needed special treatment.

"It is always difficult to shoot at night, but the whole scene was shot in the night, which made things difficult for us."

Extra efforts went into making the scene really special.

"Lightning and thunder needed to be created. Besides, special effects were also used for the scene," said Atul, who debuted as an actor in Mahesh Bhatt's "Sir" in 1993.

Atul said he has no plans to return to the big screen as an actor.

"I had always planned to be a director and had assisted Pankaj Parasher for five years. In between, I went into acting and had a bad experience. Now I want to concentrate on direction as this was always my first choice."

Preity Zinta and beau Ness Wadia had the time of their life at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore on Sunday night.

“Ness and I had the best evening of our life…All right! One of the best,” said Preity from Singapore yesterday morning.

“It was the first ever Grand Prix in the night and we were so happy to be there! But I’m exhausted. It went on till the wee hours,” she said.

Ness had even more fun than Preity. “You think he’s too proper to let himself go? Well you should’ve seen him at the Grand Prix. He had a ball. NeJustify Fullss is a total sports buff. He loves every sport from Formula 1 to tennis, soccer and even golf. Our next sporting event is in Mohali on October 17 when India plays against Australia. We’ll be there. I hope India wins.”

Although she is visibly excited about the recent Grand Prix, it wasn’t a first for Preity. “It was my third Grand Prix. I attended one in Spain and the other in Melbourne. Our very special trip to the first nocturnal Grand Prix was arranged by a certain Mr BS Ong. He was one of the chief organisers. We had a rocking time. Regulars at the Grand Prix say it was one of the best organised Grand Prix of all times,” she added.

“There were so many people from India. There was Rahul Gandhi, Satish Sharma, Vijay Mallya, Shilpa Shetty. But Shilpa was in the Kingfisher’s enclave. Ness and I were in Mr Ong’s box. I did go down to say hello to Vijay and that’s when I met Shilpa,” said Preity.

Preity loves car racing and would like to try it herself. She said, “I just wanted to jump on to those tracks and drive! What a thrill it is. All you need is ear plugs to make sure your ears don’t burst because of the noise made by the skidding wheels.”

Preity is all praise for the Indian team at the Grand Prix. “This was our first time. Our boys really did well. Mr Vijay Mallaya has done a commendable job,” she said.

This Eid’s most keenly awaited film Kidnap sees the latest teen sensation Imran Khan in a radically different avatar. From essaying a cute, lovable boy-next-door in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na to a new-age angry young man, Imran has grown by leaps and bounds. Kidnap sees him perform some death-defying stunts, which even had veteran Sanjay Dutt concerned for his safety and well-being.

Leaving the crew of the film astonished, Imran underwent a 3 week training by the UK-based action director Dane and did all the Parkour himself. The chase scene between Imran’s and Sanjay Dutt’s characters involves a heavy dose of stunning Parkour and is among the high points of the film. The scene required Imran to jump from a 16-storey building, which he did without any support!

Imran’s trainer, Dane, was supposed to perform the stunt, but suffered a severe fall from the 12th floor in one of the takes leading to a subsequent black-out. Dane was rushed to the hospital but Imran stayed back at the location and wrapped the stunt himself. While director Sanjay Gadhvi could not dissuade the young actor from this act of sheer dare-devilry, Sanjay Dutt who was on location, and is incredibly protective about Imran, rebuked him for doing his own stunts at this age when he had a long career ahead of him.

Confirms Imran, “I got into a lot of trouble that day. Sanju pulled me up and called Aamir mamu to tell him about what I had done!”

Kidnap is an Indian Films-Studio18 worldwide release and will be in theatres on Wednesday, October 1st.

Shah Rukh manages to get Kareena, Deepika and Bipasha for Temptations concert

Now we can officially say that Shah Rukh Khan’s Temptation Reloaded 2008 tour will indeed become bigger than the Bachchan’s World Tour… read on to find out more.

Shah Rukh doesn’t want to be undermined by the Bachchan’s and has therefore managed to rope in a further three big names for the concerts, his Om Shanti Om heroine Deepika Padukone, award winning actress Kareena Kapoor and the Bengal beauty Bipasha Basu. These are in addition to biggies Katrina Kaif, Anusha Dandekar and Arjun Rampal.

Cineyug’s Mohammed Morani (scriptwriter and director of the shows) confirmed and said, “Yes, we have signed Deepika and Bipasha for Temptation Reloaded. But, I haven’t worked out their dance moves yet. And we are in advanced talks with Kareena. She may join us for the shows in Dubai.”

A source said, “SRK has fans all over the world. It’s great that Deepika and Bipasha have joined the tour too. If Kareena comes on board, which is quite possible, it doesn’t get bigger than this.”

So now your thoughts on this… do you agree with the writer and believe that Shah Rukh’s tour is and will become bigger than the Bachchan’s… does the addition of the three babes make it bigger… or is the tour going to fail as overseas Bollywood fans are no longer wanting to spend money over something that never stands up to mark… whatever your thoughts we would love to read them… please use the comments section below to send them to us and fellow readers.

Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan will play cameos in Vivek Sharma’s forthcoming film ‘Kal Kisne Dekha’.

SRK was seen in a special appearance in Vivek’s first film “Bhootnath” starring the Big B. “Kal Kisne Dekha” will introduce Jacky (son of producer Vashu Bhagnani) and Vaishali Desai (grand daughter of Manmohan Desai).

The film has 15 stars playing cameo roles including Juhi Chawla and Rishi Kapoor.

Vivek declined to divulge any details about the film and whether Big B and SRK would share screen space. In Bhootnath, they were not seen together.

Daily blogger Amitabh Bachchan doesn’t spend all his time getting the words right for his blog, but also makes sure to check a blog by another… read on for more.

While Amitabh was on his world tour, which ended abruptly after falling ticket sales, he met a young girl by the name of Rochelle. What was special about this little was that she made sure to attend every concert of the Bachchan’s on the tour. She even waited hours for backstage glimpse of Big B, and when she returned him… she blogged it all down on her blog.

“She is a Sherlock Holmes in the making,” says Amitabh, who now makes sure of reading Rochelle’s blogs.

Pakistani cricket captain Shoaib Malik might soon star in a Bollywood flick opposite his lady love Sayali Bhagat.

The former Miss India and the current Pakistan hot shot have been signed up by Wilson Louis for his next film. Says a source, “Sayali is already working with Louis in a film titled Shout. When he learnt about their relationship, he asked them to star together in his next film and they both agreed.”

Here at RS we have learnt that in this film Shoaib and Sayali will play themselves, he a cricketer and she a beauty Queen. The film will go on the floor next year.

Abhishek Bachchan is eagerly looking forward to the premiere of Drona, for more reasons than one. There is widespread speculation that Raj Thackeray will be invited to the Drona premiere to be held in Mumbai on October 1. However, Abhishek is neither confirming nor denying the news.

When contacted, Abhishek said, “I would love Raj Thackeray to watch Drona. I hope he does. And I hope he enjoys it too.”

To be with Abhishek on his big day, Aishwarya Rai will be especially coming down all the way from Brazil where she is currently shooting.

“Aishwarya’s schedule for Shankar’s Robot was supposed to wrap up a week before the premiere, and it did. So she was going to be in Mumbai for the Drona premiere anyway. Having said this, let me add, that she would have definitely come back to Mumbai for the occasion from any part of the world even if she was shooting. Right now, I am looking forward to her return early next week,” added Abhishek.

At the moment, Aishwarya is in Paris to shoot for an ad for a cosmetic giant of which she is the brand ambassador.Incidentally, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan were also in Paris this week.

“Yes, they were. Unfortunately, Ma and Pa left a day before Aishwarya arrived in Paris. Pa had to be back to shoot a television programme to promote The Unforgettable concerts in India,” said Abhishek.

The Unforgettable concerts are now going to be staged in India, beginning with Mumbai. “We are in the process of working out the venues and dates. There will be more time for all this once Drona releases,” said Abhishek.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has got Sharman Joshi dropped from a film in favour of his son Ranbir Kapoor, it has been reported.

According to Indian newspapers, Rishi was approached by National Award winner Ashwini Chaudhary to play the role of Sharman’s father. However, after reading through the script, Rishi told Ashwini to drop Sharman from the lead role and replace him with his own son Ranbir. A source said, “Ashwini had finalised Rishi Kapoor and Sharman Joshi to play father and son in his film. However, Rishiji loved the script so much that he suggested that Ranbir play his son instead of Sharman. Ashwini agreed and explained the situation to Sharman who gracefully stepped down.”

However that was not the end of it… another source adds, “Not only that, Rishi ji suggested that RK Banner should produce the film and requested Ashwini to narrate the script to Randhir Kapoor as well. Randhir too loved the script and it was decided that RK Banners would produce the film.”

Things took another twist when Rishi tried to remove Ashwini from the project too. “This didn’t go down well with Ashwini as the script was very close to his heart. He chose to not give the script to RK Films and stuck to his original producer, Azam Khan of One More Thought. Now the film is being made as per the original plan.”

So Ashwini has dropped both Rishi and Ranbir from the film and, with Sharman now not available, Naseeruddin Shah and Shreyas Talpade will feature as father and son.

When contacted, Rishi Kapoor said, “It’s the ultimate father-son story and I loved the script as well as the father-son track, which is a beautiful aspect of the film. The film has been in the pipeline for many months but they couldn’t figure out the lead actor. By then, I stepped out of the project.”

After rapping for a song in Singh Is Kinng, Akshay Kumar is all set to sing a entire song for his upcoming film, Chandni Chowk to China. In the film, which is based on Akshay’s life, the actor has worked on the song’s tune with famous pop group Rhythm Dhol Bass, popularly known as RDB.

The lyrics of the song are:
• Chandni Chowk to China…
• Chandni Chowk se aayaa yeh ladka
• Lagaye tadke pe tadka…
• Chandni Chowk to China…

A source said, “Akshay is quite excited about the film. Chandni Chowk to China traces Akshay’s journey right from his early days in Chandni Chowk in Delhi to Bangkok, where he worked as a chef. The song captures the actor’s journey and goes on to show how he came to Bollywood and is now a superstar.”

A poster of Chandni Chowk to China
While Akshay was in Los Angeles shooting for his film Kambakth Ishq, he would personally call up the RDB members and work on the song after pack-up.

“He has painstakingly worked on the song. The song will be recorded in Mumbai sometime in October,” added the source.

Commenting on the song’s specialty, the source said, “Akshay Kumar’s name is an integral part of the song.”

On elder sister Lata Mangeshkar's 79th birthday on Sunday, melody queen Asha Bhosle has expressed the desire to sing with 'the Nightingale' during a public performance.

"The only time both of us sang together at a public performance was in Kolkata around 15 years ago. What fun we had. On her birthday, I wish that we do another such programme...it will be lovely," Asha was quoted by a leading Marathi daily as saying.

"Didi (sister) is so intelligent that had she studied, she would have become a big minister," Asha, who earlier this month completed 75 years, said. "Whenever we meet, we do not discuss professional issues... there is no talk on today's songs and who is doing what."

"Whenever I hear Didi's voice, I think such a voice has not existed earlier and will not be there even in future...at least during my life, I will not be able to hear another voice of the same calibre," the melody queen said.

The hard-to-please superstar of Bollywood is reportedly unhappy with the way his upcoming film Ghajini (Hindi) has shaped up.

Aamir Khan is at it again. The movie for which he all but shaved his head has not met his expectations. ‘Ghajini’, directed by A Murugadoss, is complete and the director reportedly held a special screening of the film recently for Aamir.

If the buzz is to be believed, after watching the movie Aamir wasn’t very thrilled. His scrutinizing eyes singled out scenes which he believed needed to be re-shot. Respecting Aamir’s judgment, Murugadoss has reportedly decided to re-shoot some scenes.

The only problem is that Aamir is presently shooting Raju Hirani’s film 3 Idiots in which he has a different hairstyle than that of ‘Ghajini’. So Aamir won’t be able to reshoot for ‘Ghajini’ until he wraps up ‘3 Idiots’, which means at least a month.

Aamir is a star whose opinion is respected by peers in the industry. Recently, director Sanjay Gadhvi showed Aamir his movie Kidnap to get his opinion. Aamir gave thumbs-up to the film.

Though some industrywalas think Aamir crosses his line at times and interferes in a director’s work, most of the people who work with him (with the exception of a few with whom Aamir has had fallout) welcome suggestions or comments by the star. And after showing his prowess behind the camera in Taare Zameen Par , Aamir has only gained more respect in tinsel town.

We’re sure Murugadoss won’t mind re-shooting the said scenes if Aamir wishes it so. For Aamir is not just a director’s actor, he is an actor who is a terrific director as well.

Bollywood’s ‘macho man’ Salman Khan is all geared up to celebrate the holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr in the fashionable French capital of Paris. After having sleepless nights and tiresome slogging to complete the shooting of Subhash Ghai's much anticipated ‘Yuvraaj’, Khan has finally got a break from the flabbergasting schedule and has moved to Paris to can some scenes for Vipul Shah's ‘London Dreams’ with actor Ajay Devgan in tow.

Since the actor won’t be able to return to India and be with his family for Eid, he has made grand plans to celebrate the festival abroad. Salman will host a small get–together in his Paris hotel room and invited the whole unit of the film for the same.

The generous Khan is apparently planning to contact the best Indian chefs in Paris to make his celebration memorable. It’s promising to be the most ‘fashionable’ Eid for the B-town hunk. Guess it is ‘East or west, Eid will be the best’ for Salman as for now.

Sajid Superstars has been the top-charting show on the newly launched satellite television Colors. Adhered to the best attributes of bringing in the sensational stars into the show, themselves sharing their personal affairs to greater extents is something that has grabbed the attention of viewers.

Well, this week's show has ultra-model macho chap Arjun Rampal along with Former Miss India Dia Mizra. First enters, Arjun Rampal who would be taking his memories down the lane of his college days, early days of cinematic experiences and more. Fine! With Sajid putting on his fantastical question on who's his favorite alluring missy, Arjun Rampal taking no pauses has the name 'Katrina Kaif' uttered.

Guessing what would be his rigid reason? take a look on the show telecasted this week. Dia Mizra getting into the frame on the latter part adds more enthuse chatting on her favorite and rivals of film world. Young lads, catch up for more interesting from her.

Though not in real life, this exactly what happened in the reel life of Saif and Kareena. While Kareena was taking Saat Pheras with her co-star Sharman Joshi, Saif was witnessing the view. The scene was very interesting for the entire cast and crew of Rajkumar Hirani's 3Idiots. While Bebo was marrying Sharman according to Hindu rituals, her beau was hanging around the sets.

The venue was Shimla's Hotel Woodville Palace (where Amitabh's Black was also shot). And Saiffu dear dropped on the set to explore the exotic location of Shimla. A source revealed that after the shooting wind up, the duo was together throughout the day. They visited some beautiful places and haunted various shops and purchased exquisite things.

The duo was also together at Kareena’s birthday and they celebrated romantically in Kargil. Saif took days off from his shooting schedule and covered extra miles to be with his beau. Kareena too drove from Ladakh to Kargil to join Saif. A slightest distance gives great pain for the couple madly in love.

Shahrukh Khan seems to be pulling out all the stops to make his upcoming world tour as loaded as possible.

The superstar is making sure there’s enough glitz, gloss and glamour in the musical concerts of the ‘Temptation Reloaded’ tour, to be held in Germany, Spain and Dubai in October.

Even as the preparation for the shows is underway, SRK has roped in the Bollywood bombshells Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone for the German leg of the tour. The two ladies bonded well during the promotion of their film Bachna Ae Haseeno and are also likely to share the stage during the concerts.

Katrina Kaif will also be a big attraction of the tour, in spite of the rumours alleging her departure from ‘Temptation’ after SRK’s spat with Salman Khan .

This bandwagon of Bollywood beauties might get further crowded with the possible inclusion of Kareena Kapoor . Talks are presently on with Kareena and her dates are being looked into to figure out if she can spare time for the concerts. She is presently shooting Raju Hirani’s movie 3 Idiots in Shimla.

‘Temptation Reloaded’ will also feature SRK’s good friend Arjun Rampal who is likely to play the guitar onstage, like his character in Rock On .

The concerts are scheduled thus: Show in Berlin on October 17; in Munich on October 18; in Frankfurt on October 19; in Barcelona (Spain) on October 20. There will be a four day break before the final concert in Dubai on October 25.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan may feature in an international film project to be made by makers of the 2006 Oscar-winning documentary March of the Penguin.

The actor, who is in Paris, wrote on his blog that he may give his consent to the project which will be made in English.

It will be produced and directed by the French makers of March of the Penguin.

The new film will be set in India and France and in all likelihood work starts next year end. That is all that one can talk of right now, he said.

Bachchan had earlier written that director Luc Jacquet wanted him in his film and the two would be meeting in Paris to discuss the details.

or A 25 year old Dubai-based Iranian model, landing a role in a Bollywood movie is a dream come true, especially when it is in a Vikram Bhatt movie.

Mahsa, has just been offered a lead role in romantic thriller called Purple Lake opposite Aashish Chowdhry, 'Abu Dhabi's The National newspaper has reported.

Mahsa said she has been a fan of Bhatt since she was a child. "I've grown up on Vikram's films. To meet him was quite an experience for me," she told the newspaper.

Two days after a meeting in Mumbai with the director, Mahsa was asked to audition for Purple Lake. "I was the most nervous I'd ever been in my life. I thought I'd give it a go as I had nothing to lose but I never thought it would come to anything," she said.

"Bollywood for me is the most amazing place on earth, it's the land of non-stop musicals with my heroes from when I was as young as five. I used to stay up late at night with my nana to watch Bollywood movies like Karan Arjun. I loved Shah Rukh Khan," Mahsa said.

"I'm still not sure how it happened. I never imagined I'd ever star in a Bollywood movie. I'm so grateful," she said.

Purple Lake is a love triangle in which an Indian girl raised in England is caught between family values and forbidden love. Mahsa has made TV commercials for brands such as Pepsi, Sony and Panasonic, as well as fronting campaigns for Emaar, the property developer. It will now have to take a back seat so she can concentrate on acting.

The model — who has most recently been the face of UAE telecom giant Etisalat — moved to India to boost her modelling career and says her Indian-style looks helped her land the role.

Destroying all the talk of she being thrown out of Shah Rukh Khan's Temptations Reloaded World Tour after the relationship of Salman and Shah Rukh went sour at her birthday party and Salman Khan not allowing her to be part of any film having his rivals, Katrina Kaif has shown that she is a hardcore professional.

Katrina has gone ahead and agreed for a Yashraj flick having SRK in the lead role.

The untitled movie to be directed by Yash Chopra also has John Abraham in a prominent role.

She will also be sharing the stage with Shah Rukh for a performance at Bhutan during the coronation day of the new king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk.

Both the top stars of Bollywood have been invited to Bhutan as the king in waiting is a big fan of Hindi films and he wanted SRK and Katrina to be present during the ceremony.

The legendary Bollywood back-up singer Lata Mangeshkar turns 79 tomorow. Widely considered the nightingale of India, Lata was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records from 1974 to 1991 for recording the highest Bollywood. Some of his biggest directorial hits were 'Dil to Pagal Hai' and 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayeingay'.

Abhishek Bachchan was spotted on the set of the reality TV show 'Bigg Boss', with host Shilpa Shetty. Bachchan will enter the house and interact with either Rahul Mahajan or Raja Chaudhary, whoever is 'evicted' from the house temporarily. The junior Bachchan has worked with Shetty in the past, in the movie 'Phir Milenge.'

Zayed Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta will soon be diving underwater to shoot a dance sequence for the new movie 'Blue'. Zayed Khan has been living it up on the film shoot in Bangkok and Phuket for the past month, as he preps for the mind-boggling act. So how is the cast going to mouth the words to the song while underwater...? I guess we'll have to wait and watch!

Hamlet, of Shakespeare fame, once said, 'Frailty, thy name is woman.' If only he had seen the Bollywood woman in action, he might have retracted his words at once. Besides looking drop dead gorgeous, the Hindi film heroine can kick butt too.

And it's not a recent trend. Even earlier, while several yesteryear damsels were busy screaming 'Bachao' to her smug hero, quite a few of them dared to take matters in their own hand. Things have only gotten better over the years. From being the object of protection to playing bodyguard -- like Priyanka Chopra in Drona -- the desi Wonder Woman is here to stay. Here's a look at girl power, Bollywood style:
Aishwarya Rai, The Last Legion

If you thought beauty was her only weapon, think again. The erstwhile Miss World shows she can play an armed exotic warrior skilled in the art of sword-fighting just as well.

Saif attends Kareena's wedding

Please have faith in our headline because that is exactly what happened yesterday (Tuesday). While boyfriend Saif Ali Khan watched from a distance, not doing anything, Kareena Kapoor married Sharman Joshi.

Time for some clarifications now. Just yesterday we had told you that the unit of Raju Hirani's 3 Idiots was likely to reach the Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla at the first available opportunity. And that is how it has happened. The venue was Shimla's Hotel Woodville Palace (where Amitabh's Black was also shot) and the scene being canned was that of Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor taking the seven 'pheras', as per proper Hindu marriage rituals. While the wedding sequence was being shot, Saif Ali Khan was seen hanging around the sets.

As per our unit sources, Kareena had arrived in Shimla (from Ladakh) with Saif and after the shooting was over, they were together throughout the day, enjoying the now clear Shimla weather.

Who do you think is the hottest of the Khans? Shahrukh, Salman, Aamir or Saif? According to the latest Filmfare survey, Shahrukh has been voted the hottest Khan. And he has beaten Salman Khan on his way to the top.

People still think King Khan is still the hottest. Salman is in the second place followed by Aamir Khan, the perfectionist. The surprise factor of the poll was Aamir's nephew Imran Khan, who made film debut through Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He gave a close competition to Saif Ali Khan.

However, when it comes to hottest body, Salman has beaten Shahrukh. Salman has been voted the actor with the hottest body. Hrithik Roshan is in the second place while John Abraham has been pushed to third position

Nothing fazes Imran Khan. Not even a road accident. On Thursday afternoon, as he was being driven to the venue of his rehearsals for Abhinay Deo's Delhi Belly, a speeding vehicle bumped into his vehicle from behind, damaging his car's bumper and scratching the paint.

Let's deal with it, later

"There was some damage to the car, yes," admitted Imran. "This happened right in front of Tulip Star hotel. Vehicles came to a standstill and we came down from our cars. I was in a hurry to reach my rehearsals. So we exchanged addresses and I'll be taking up the matter with him later."

Money ain't important

So did the guy who caused the accident recognise the newest star on the block? "Nah, he was in too much a hurry and too flustered by what had happened," says the star in a hurry. On the work front, Imran doesn't deny his rumoured remuneration per film: a whopping Rs 12 crores. "Money is not the criteria.

It's what I'm comfortable doing. And after Kidnap and Luck, it's only Aamir's Delhi Belly I've said yes to." Imran desperately needs a holiday. In fact his new best buddy and mentor Sanjay Dutt invited Imran for a vacation. Imran refused. "Sanju Dutt has gone on a safari into the jungles of Tanzania and the Congo in Africa.

He asked me to come along. But here I am battling publicity interviews, rehearsals and a damaged car. Tough luck."

Ever since Aditya Narayan began hosting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, speculation has been rife about him dating contestant Mauli Dave. The anchor of the reality show has now got back with former girlfriend, Yoshika Verma, daughter of fight master Pappu Verma.

A source close to the newbie actor reveals, "Yoshika and Aditya have been dating each other off and on for more than three years now. They seem to have a very open relationship.

When Aditya was having an affair with Mauli during the making of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa last year, the couple went on a mutual break and even dated different people for quite some time. But as soon as Mauli went on a vacation to her hometown in USA, Aditya and Yoshika were back again together."

The source further adds, "Yoshika is an aspiring actress and is a couple of years older to the anchor. She is currently assisting Ken Ghosh on the Shahid Kapoor and Jiah Khan starrer Yahoo. Her parents aren't too thrilled with the link-up but Aditya's folks are cool with it. She is even a regular visitor to Aditya's house."

For now, Yoshika and Mauli are very good friends and that is clearly visible on Facebook where they both are on each other's friend's list and exchange messages and greet each other on a regular basis!

About his relationship with Yoshika, Aditya says, "We are just good friends. People keep on speculating if they see a boy and a girl together."

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will travel all the way from Brazil for a special screening of hubby Abhishek's upcoming release, Drona.

Ash is currently in South America shooting for Shankar's film opposite Rajnikanth. A source reveals that Ash was trying hard to juggle her schedule and tried to take days off close to the release of Drona.

All for you!

It is learnt that director Goldie Behl is holding a special trial for the Bachchans in the week the film releases. A source reveals Ash will attend this screening.

"Ash will be in town just for Drona. She's very excited about the release, and has been gushing about the promos.

Since this is Abhishek's major solo hero release this year, she wants to support him in every way possible."

Despite of fluctuating fortunes in Bollywood, the stars know very well to build and maintain relationships and friendships. And let’s face it. These friendships help the actors climbing the ladder of success with a short cut.

Talking of friendships how can one ignore SRK and Karan Johar. KJO considers SRK to be his lucky charm and refuses to make any film without him. Farah Khan too has similar views for buddy Shah Rukh, especially after OSO’s success. Where, Rani and Priety are darlings of Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Productions; Sanjay Gupta’s dear is Sanjay Dutt. Suniel Shetty and Sanjay Dutt too share a close bond and Suniel considers Sanju baba as his lucky charm. Rani- Priety, Rehmaan- Aamir, Priyanka- Akshay and the list goes on… Bollywood is truly a platform for making new bonds and strengthening the old ones.

The starcast of the forthcoming film Hello came together for the film's music launch on Tuesday in Mumbai. The film is an adaptation of author Chetan Bhagat's novel One Night at the Call Centre.

The cast includes Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Gul Panag, Sohail Khan, Sharman Joshi and Amrita Arora.

Actress Amrita Arora was all praises for the film's album as she said, "The film's album is great, and there’s a song for everyone."

The author of the book, who is now the scriptwriter of the movie wishes it's a bigger hit than the book.

"I want people to say the film is better than the book," said Bhagat.

The film features all the three Khan brothers, though Arbaaz has only a special appreance in the film.

"I'm glad to be a part fo the film even if it's a special appearance," said Arbaaz.

Apart from the star cast of the film, the music launch had a surprise visitor. Singer Jay Sean who was in Mumbai for a concert is an ardent fan of Salman.

"I like Slaman Khan a lot. He's a typical Bollywood star and he makes good movies," said Sean.

Bollywood star Ajay Devgan escaped death while giving an action shot for a film near an island in Thailand - the weather suddenly changed and the chopper moving over him nearly lost control. He escaped unscathed, despite the helicopter blades whizzing inches from him.

He says he was shooting with other actors near Phi Phi Island. The action director Jack Gill had planned out a stunt in which the jet-ski chase was suppose to be shot from a chopper.

'Initially, as we started filming and moving around in the shallow waters, the waves were moderate... so we decided to move ahead in the deeper waters since the scene required a proper aerial view which should look like a chase from a top angle,' Ajay wrote on his blog www.ajaydevgan.net.

He was shooting with four other stuntmen.

'They were moving aggressively in the sea trying to give their best shots by manoeuvring with their cuts around me... The chopper was also hovering right above us and as close as possible to us to get better shots,' he added.

According to Ajay, all seemed to go well until they realised they were nearing another smaller rocky island called Maya Bay.

'Suddenly the weather started to change. The wind and the waves were trying to show us their stunts and our guys instantly thought of retreat.

'A sudden gust of strong wind hit me and next moment the chopper above us lost control and blades were so dangerously close to us that we could feel the strong whipping winds of our helicopter,' he described.

Ajay, who featured in several action movies including his debut vehicle 'Phool Aur Kaante' and 'Raju Chacha', says this incident will be etched in his mind for a long time.

Tingya a Marathi film had lost to Taare Zameen Par by a close inch in the run for the Oscars. However, the producer Ravi Rai and his company Small Town Boy Productions have decided to send it to the Oscars as an independent entry.

Tingya directed by Mangesh Hadawale is an emotional story of love between a boy and a bull, which is set in the milieu of Maharashtra's agrarian crisis. The film has won several accolades both nationally and internationally. Tingya was apparently rejected by almost 42 producers but has bagged about 37 awards globally, which in itself is a huge achievement for producer Ravi Rai.

In spite of not being nominated as the official entry into the foreign language category for the Oscars, Ravi Rai has no grudge and feels no resentment towards the jury. Taare Zameen Par happens to be among Rai's favourite movies. Apparently, Taare Zameen Par and Tingya were very close in competition. The jury discussed and debated over the film's every valid point even the child artistes for nearly 2 hours. But Tingya lost on the basis of technical finesse, which is bound to differ when a 27 Lakh and 50 Crore budget movie is compared.

Besides Taare Zameen Par and Tingya the other films in discussion for selection were Marathi film Valu, Nishikant Kamat's Mumbai Meri Jaan, Neeraj Pandey's A Wednesday, Ashutosh Gowarikar's Jodhaa Akbar, Farhan Akhtar's Rock On, Subhash Ghai's Black and White and the Telugu film Ghanyam.

This is nothing new, whenever a big film is scheduled for release one of the principal artists gets miffed with the maker for not promoting them. Only last week we reported about Priyanka Chopra getting annoyed with the makers of 'Drona'. Now we have the buzz that Minissha Lamba is not happy with Sanjay Gadhvi the director of 'Kidnap' for not giving her importance in the promos of the film. Her absence from the press conference and photo shoot of the film corroborates the same.

'Kidnap' is pitted against 'Drona' on October 2 and call it a coincidence that leading ladies of both the films are miffed with their respective makers.

It’s official. Katrina Kaif is the undisputed queen of Bollywood. The sensuous beauty, who walked away with the most coveted title of being the most sexiest women in the world beating Hollywood divas like Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz, has now been crowned as the most sexiest filmdom babe. But looks like, being sexy is not enough as Kat failed to make the cut in the race to be the next Bond girl.

In a pole conducted by an acclaimed celeb magazine, Katrina Kaif topped the list of sexiest actress in Bollywood. The ommphalicious babe was the unanimous choice as she left behind hot bod Bipasha, bootylicious Kareena, superwomen Priyanka Chopra and even sex siren Mallika Sherawat by a huge margin.

However, even though her sultry sensuous look bewitched the voters and won her the sexiest tag, the cute faced actress flared horribly in the list of actresses, who are most likely to work in a Hollywood flick. Surprisingly Aishwarya Rai, who is touted as the Hollywood material too failed, a piece of information, we are sure would provide some respite to catty Kat.

But shockingly it’s B-town’s sex kitten, Mallika Sherawat, who has been voted as the Bond girl material aka desi diva-most likely to work in a Hollywood flick.

Looks like Katrina is sexy but Mallika has got the SEX appeal.

Aamir Khan, who has been to the Oscars before with Lagaan but never got an award, is hoping to get lucky this time round with Taare Zameen Par. His film on a dyslexic boy, which moved Indian audiences to tears last year and made a star overnight out of child actor Darsheel Safary, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film Category. And, Aamir knows, that not only is the awareness of learning disabilities like dyslexia high in the US, but the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has in the past been sympathetic towards films based on such bold and heart-wrenching subjects that tug at human emotions.

There’s been Rain Man in 1989, starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman as his autistic savant brother, that won four Oscars including awards for Best Picture, Original Screenplay, Director and Actor. And, later in 1995, Tom Hanks’s Forrest Gump, in which he plays a small town man with a low IQ who was rejected by public school and went on to win fame, fortune and glory, also did well at the Oscars with the film getting awards for Best Picture, Visual Effects, Director and Actor. Now, Aamir is banking on TZP’s emotional appeal to work its magic on the Academy’s members. His earlier outing there with Lagaan has made the Academy familiar with his work, but, Aamir said, “That won’t help in getting me higher marks, though it ought to get me to the attention of the members.”
Undettered that Lagaan failed to make the Oscars, but in fact encouraged by his experience there already, Aamir is ready to go down the Oscar road again with TZP. “Which means organising special screenings — apart from the official one set up by the Academy — for the 600 members who form the committee to look into submissions of Best Foreign Film and Best Documentary, placing ads in trade newspapers, hiring a publicist to talk about the film and highlight the impact it made in India,” he said. He will have to make one trip to LA to set the ball rolling, but, beyond that, there is nothing that Aamir Khan can do but wait and watch and hope. “My fingers are crossed,” he said.

Mani Ratnam's projects are always a well-guarded secret. In fact, those associated with the film are sworn to secrecy. Right from the star cast to the subject, everything about the film is kept under wraps, away from the prying eyes of the media.

There's talk in the industry circles that Mani is making a costume drama, but that's far from true. The truth is, the film is a love triangle and will star the Guru team of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Bachchan with the top actor from South, Vikram. The shooting is expected to commence shortly.

Everyone knows what a sweet bond Mamu Aamir and bhanja Imran share! Aamir not only launched him in the super hit venture ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, he is also very protective about his nephew. Little nephew always comes to him for all kinds of advice. Recently, during the shooting of Imran’s forthcoming ‘Kidnap’, an incident further showed the strong kinship the duo share.

‘Kidnap’ required a stunt scene, which involved jumping off from the 20th floor of a building. Sanjay Dutt, who is Imran’s co-star in the film was observing the stunt from below, which he thought would be done by a body double. But, to his immense surprise, Baba spotted the body double on the ground beside him, while Imran was up there, ready for the stunt.

Hot-blooded Imran was bent upon proving that, like Akshay Kumar, he can manage his own stunts. But experienced actor Sanjay saw danger in it. He directly called up mamu to stop his charge from taking the dangerous step. Aamir immediately called up Imran and advised him to refrain from the risky stunt at such an early stage in his career.

This made Imran relent, and he agreed to let his body double perform the stunt.

Parag Desai, the official spokesperson of Shree Astavinayak Cine Vision said, “The incident did happen. Sanju called Aamir because he is genuinely concerned about Imran’s safety.”

Bollywood and Hollywood greatly differ as movie industries but stars from both worlds are in consensus when it comes to investing in the Middle-East. Shahrukh Khan is developing a cluster of buildings in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the UAE's seven emirates. And Oscar winning actress Hillary Swank will be endorsing Aquitainia, a $1.49 billion project on The World islands in Dubai.

Winner of Filmfare's Best Actor award for Taare Zameen Par,11-year old, Darsheel Safary has now signed up for another movie with acclaimed director Priyadarshan. The movie will be a revamped adaptation of the classic Iranian children's film 'Children of Heaven

In his latest blog entry the Big B revealed that he may have 2 upcoming projects outside Bollywood, with the writers of the legendary movie Taxi Driver and the creators of the Oscar winning documentary 'March of the Penguins'. Bachchan has not indicated that he will accept the projects but if all goes well, Bollywood's Bachchan may be heading for Hollywood!

Showing his solidarity with the multi cultural image of Bollywood and also with the words spoken by Jaya Bachchan on her preference to speak Hindi during the audio launch of 'Drona', Aamir Khan has given out his opinions regarding the recent heated controversy between Raj Thackeray and Mrs.Bachchan.

Aamir spoke to the media during a press meet conducted as part of the promotional campaign of 'Taare Zameen Par' after it was selected as the official entry of India for the forthcoming Academy awards.

The actor said that the public should keep away from Political leaders who intend to bring differences among the peace loving people on the basis of religion, caste and community.

Aamir also said that such ways adopted by the politicians is extremely harmful to the country and a leader who tries to instigate divisions among the people do it just for satisfying their own personal agendas and people should not vote such people to power.

Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has been voted Asia's sexiest vegetarian male in a survey conducted by animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Hong Kong's singer-actress Faye Wong was voted Asia's sexiest vegetarian female in the poll conducted among members of PETA Wednesday.

Runners-up in the competition included Taiwanese drama star Barbie Xu, Hong Kong actress Maggie Q and Cantopop singer and actress Stephy Tang.

Outside Asia, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, pop star Leona Lewis and camp British TV host Russell Brand were among the celebrities who polled most votes as sexiest vegetarians.

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan may feature in an international film project to be made by makers of the 2006 Oscar-winning documentary March of the Penguin.

The actor, who is in Paris, wrote on his blog that he may give his consent to the project which will be made in English. It will be produced and directed by the French makers of March of the Penguin.

The new film will be set in India and France. Perhaps work starts next year end. That is all that one can talk of right now, he said.

Bachchan had earlier written that director Luc Jacquet wanted him in his film and the two would be meeting in Paris to discuss the details.

March of the Penguin, about Antarctica's emperor Penguins, earned $ 77 million at the US box office.

Big B also said he had got a Hollywood offer. "There is another project from the writer of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull from Hollywood and I shall need to see the script before I consider any further," he said.

The oh-so-gorgeous Kareena Kapoor may have turned a year older yesterday (Sept 21) but one look at some of her recent pics, and you will agree that the actress is probably looking her best these days.

Kareena, who is the brand ambassador for Globus chain of stores, recently shot for their Winter 08 collection at one of the most romantic cities in the world - Paris. Now, when it is Paris, love is certainly in the air and giving company to Bebo was her loving boyfriend Saif Ali Khan who made her feel all the more special with his presence. Bollywood Hungama brings you some sizzling hot images of Kareena from this photo-shoot.

Kareena, who has been in the news for her size-zero figure, looks picture perfect in this dress with a wide belt. Needless to say, her matching sandals only add to her sex-appeal.

Fans of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol need not wait till next year to see the hit couple on-screen, for the two will share a cameo in this year’s big release Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Aditya Chopra’s upcoming film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will see the super-hit jodi together once again. If sources are to be believed, Kajol will make a special appearance in the film.

A source confirmed the above adding that the song is shot at Yash Raj Studios. Yash Raj Films is thrilled to have Kajol on board once again as SRK-Kajol films have always done well at the box-office.”

Karan Johar has already signed up Kajol has the lead heroine in his forthcoming terrorist flick My Name Is Khan, where she will play the wife of Shah Rukh Khan. This film is expected to release late 2009.

Salman Khan’s painting skills have impressed many. Ever since he found out that he has a neck for the brush, he has been gifting people his paintings as souvenirs. Recently, he presented Ranbir Kapoor with a painting of his grandfather Raj Kapoor and also gave a painting to Aamir Khan. Now, it seems, the actor is interested to pen down his feelings on a paper. But Salman claims that if he ever turns an author, the first book will be on his father Salim Khan.

Replying to a query on whether he had any plans to turn an author, Salman said, “Everything is possible in this lifetime! Who knows what could happen tomorrow! If at all I write, it will definitely be a tribute to my father Salim Khan”, he told reporters.

However, at present, Salman claims that there is no time for writing a book as he is very busy with his assignments. Sallu will be seen in the role of Chetan Bhagat in Hello, which is based on Bhagat’s novel One Night at a Call Centre. On being asked, whether he took any advice from the author for the role, Salman said, "Chetan is a talkative person. Its difficult not to listen to him."

Directed by Atul Agnihotri, Hello, which apart from Salman also stars Katrina Kaif, Sharman Joshi, Gul Panag, Sohail Khan, Eesha Koppikar, Amrita Arora and Arbaz Khan, will hit the silver-screen on October 10. Apart from Hello, Salman will also be seen Subhash Ghai's musical Yuvraaj and Samir Karnik's Heroes later this year.
